What do you mean “Eat The Frog”?

Eating the frog means that you must do the most difficult and important task first. It’s based on theory by Brian Tracy who says that doing the most important and impactful task first will boost your productivity for the rest of the day. If you have an assignment to hand in at midnight, there is no point replying to a few texts and emails and then nipping to the shop or filling out a form for a less urgent admin task. Equally, if you know you have a literature review to write for your dissertation, work on that first before you start tweaking your formatting or reference list.

What if I have 2 frogs to eat?

If there are a few “frogs” vying for your attention, the rule is that you eat the biggest one first. Tackle the hardest of your tasks and then you will have the dopamine to box off the other frogs more productively. You don’t want that same huge task being left on your to-do list every day, it won’t help. You need to be determined, break down the main task into smaller parts and start.
